Gaza: Senior Hamas official Basem Naim declared there is "no sense" in engaging in further truce negotiations or considering new ceasefire proposals while Israel's "hunger war and extermination war" persist in Gaza. Naim emphasized that the ongoing blockade and airstrikes have caused unbearable suffering for Gaza's population, making talks futile under current conditions.
His remarks come as Israel's 65-day blockade continues to suffocate the enclave, with critical shortages of food, water, and medical supplies threatening to push Gaza to the brink of collapse. Naim has called on the international community to increase pressure on Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s government to put an end to what he described as "crimes of hunger, thirst, and killings" in Gaza.
The statement follows Netanyahu’s declaration that Gaza’s population "will be moved" in an upcoming ground offensive, further escalating fears of a deepening humanitarian catastrophe. As the situation deteriorates, Hamas has rejected any talks that would allow the continuation of what they call a "war of extermination" in Gaza, underlining their demand for immediate international intervention to halt the violence.
